Urban Devi Sanga: Who Am I? The Devastation of Discrimination

An Urban Devi event with Rasa Sthali Devi Dasi

I will share my own story of being raised in an apartheid country and how the identification of the self as the body is the seed of discrimination. Together, we will explore and unpack our conscious and unconscious biases. Bio: Rasa-sthali joined the Temple in 1991 and lived full-time until 2000. While there, her primary service was book distribution. She then returned to her hometown and first temple, ISKCON Durban Sri Sri Radha Radhanath Temple – the largest ISKCON Centre in Africa, where she serves as Brand and Social Media Manager. Rasa-sthali is also an editor and was one of the early readers of the book "Prema Kirtan" by Pranada Comtois. She is also one of five members of the ISKCON Durban Management.

Rasa-sthali is a champion for women in Bhakti as part of the Women’s Collective SA – an initiative that focuses on creating a happy and safe service atmosphere for Vaishnavis. She is also the managing director of Bhakti Theatre. This Vaishnava theatre initiative has won a spot (one in ten) at the Community Arts Festival at the Durban Playhouse, which is supported by the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture."
